Workshop on public administration reform

Jan Robert Suesser, director of ADETEF, and Carolina Ballester, Latin America project officer, participated in a workshop held in Columbia on the topic: “Reforming public administration in the Andean countries: challenges, structures and assistance,” organised on September 27 and 28, 2011, in Columbia by the French MAEE (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs) , the IRG (Institute for Research and Debate on Governance) and Externado University in Bogota.
This workshop, led by IRG (Institute for Research and Debate on Governance) , is a part of the assessment process undertaken in 2010 by MAEE’s general directorate for globalisation, in conjunction with the DGAFP (General Directorate for the Administration and the Civil Service (ministry for the Budget, Public Accounts, the Civil Service and State Reform)) . It aims at drawing up, in 2012, strategic guidelines for technical assistance in the area of public administration reform.
During this workshop, ADETEF emphasised the importance of sharing experiences as a cooperation best practice to foster shared responsibility by administrations and civil society in the area of public governance. This is one of the lessons ADETEF has drawn from the EUROsociAL program with Latin America.
To conclude the event, a meeting to summarise findings was held at the French Embassy in Bogota on September 29.
