Visuel du Colloque 2013CR AdetefGender balance for a better economic governance
On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, Adetef and the directions of the economic and financial ministries organized a conference on the relationship between economic governance and gender balance, in partnership with OECD and with French Development Agency support. The aim of the conference, entitled "Cooperation for Economic Governance with Gender Balance" was to give the floor to international donors (the African Development Bank, the European Commission, the French Development Agency) and to leaders of the economic and financial administrations of France's partner countries to the South, especially North Africa, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa, on an issue that is highly topical for many of these countries.

At the conclusion of the visit by the President of France François Hollande to Algeria last December 19 and 20, in the Declaration in Algiers on French-Algerian friendship and cooperation, the presidents of the two countries set the course for a renewed and strengthened relationship fifty years after Algerian independence. Several documents and agreements were signed on the occasion of this visit, marking a strong commitment to forge closer ties. In the area of bilateral cooperation, broad guidelines for the next five years were laid down in a Partnership Framework Document (PFD) signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs. Economic governance and the modernization of the business environment are among key areas where cooperation will focus in coming years. In this context a "Memorandum of Financial Cooperation" following a 2008 agreement was signed by Karim Djoudi, the Algerian Finance Minister, and Nicole Bricq, France's Foreign Trade Minister. This commitment recalls the long duration and the importance of technical cooperation between institutions of the two countries.

Technical assistance is a traditional component of Customs Service international activity. Customs commitments to international technical assistance are by now very well integrated into its overall strategy and are linked to its operational concerns. The main themes of technical assistance parallel Customs' key missions in all aspects: taxation, facilitating and regulating trade, the fight against fraud and important areas of international trafficking, protection of security and public health. Guiding and professionalizing the international customs network are priorities which make it possible both to participate in key areas and to respond to the heavy demand of partner administrations, in the framework of a limited budget.
